About (Imam) MUHAMMAD ZAKARIA SYED

Syed Muhammad Zakaria is a devoted Sufi practitioner and respected Islamic scholar known for his lifelong commitment to spirituality, education, and peacebuilding. Rooted in a spiritual lineage tracing back to Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (R.A), the founder of the Qadri Sufi tradition, Imam Zakaria combines deep spiritual wisdom with a modern, inclusive approach to religious life. His father, Syed Javed Hussain Shah (R.A), was himself recognized for his mastery in spirituality and Islamic jurisprudence, a legacy that Imam Zakaria continues through his own work and mission. As a champion of intra-Muslim unity and interfaith harmony, he actively promotes mutual respect across communities and engages in programs that bring people together beyond sectarian lines.

Throughout his career, Zakaria has taken on leadership roles that reflect his dedication to education, dialogue, and societal well-being. He serves as President of the Ulama Council for Interfaith Dialogue Pakistan (UCID) and as Director of Jamia Ubaidia, a seminary and monastery educating around 2,000 students of all genders in both religious and general studies. He also supervises over 200 seminaries across Pakistan, fostering scholarly growth and ethical leadership. Beyond national borders, his involvement with international peace and interfaith groups demonstrates his commitment to global harmony. His efforts have been recognized with numerous national and international awards for promoting peace, understanding, and cooperation in multicultural societies.
